AVIX Ergo balance

Ergonomic line balancing software

Ergonomic line balancing

Ergonomic Balancing is a concept developed with stakeholders from the academic world, the industry and the AVIX software team.

Traditionally line balancing is focused on distributing the workload (assembly time) equally between the resources. At a later stage, if at all, the ergonomic strains for the humans are considered. It doesn’t have to be that way!

Ergonomic balancing is a critical aspect of workplace safety and health. It involves the careful consideration of the human body’s capabilities and limitations, as well as the specific tasks that workers are required to perform. By designing products and workstations that are ergonomically balanced, organizations can reduce the risk of disorders, repetitive strain injuries, and other health problems that can result from prolonged or repetitive use of poorly designed equipment or workstations.

Using AVIX Ergo Balancing both assembly time and the ergonomic strain are considered in parallel and are equally important.

THIS IS AVIX Ergo Balance

  • Optimize the assembly line from a human well-being perspective
  • Identify line positions that are demanding from an ergonomic point of view
  • Identify product variants that are heavy for the human to assemble
  • Eliminate poor ergonomic situations
  • Optimize work rotation to prevent musculoskeletal problems
  • Balance the line based on time and ergonomics

Human well-being

Using Rapid Entire Body Assessment, REBA, or other assessment models, helps to reduce poor work postures and risks to suffer from musculoskeletal disorders from repetitive use of poorly designed equipment or workstations. AVIX Ergo Balance supports REBA as a standard and visualizes the result in an easily understood way.

Equal workload

When balancing an assembly line one objective is to achieve an even flow through equal workload for all operators. In other words, to reduce balancing losses. With AVIX Ergo Balance both assembly time and ergonomic load are distributed more evenly between work positions along the assembly line.

True ergonomic

Ergonomics is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance. That’s what AVIX Ergo Balance is about!

Application areas

Consider both assembly time and the ergonomic strain in parallel with AVIX Ergo Balance.

Frequently
asked
questions

How does our ergonomic line balancing software benefit production processes?

Traditionally, line balancing is focused on distributing the workload (assembly time) equally between the resources. Ergonomic balancing involves careful consideration of the human body’s capabilities and limitations, as well as the specific tasks that workers are required to perform. By designing products and workstations that are ergonomically balanced, organizations can reduce the risk of disorders, repetitive strain injuries, and other health problems that can result from prolonged or repetitive use of poorly designed equipment or workstations.

Can AVIX Ergo Balance identify specific workstations or tasks that pose ergonomic risks?

Yes, AVIX Ergo Balance is designed to identify specific workstations or tasks that pose ergonomic risks. The software helps you ensure an even distribution of workload and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The software supports assessment models like Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to analyze work postures and visualize results.

How does AVIX Ergo Balance help in optimizing work rotation to prevent musculoskeletal problems?

By showing the ergonomic strain level per workstation, it becomes clear which workstations would benefit from, or need, work rotation.

Can AVIX Ergo Balance be used with all kinds of processes and production lines?

Yes, AVIX Ergo Balance may be used in all kinds of processes and production lines where you wish to ensure an even distribution of workload and reduce the risk of injuries due to ergonomic strain.
