AVIX Method

Method and time study

AVIX Method uses MTM-based standard times (or other types of stopwatch measurements) to perform time study analysis of work operations to create the data needed for line balancing and product calculations.

A simple and rapid study provides detailed information, ranging from times of individual work operations to full production line processes. The time base can be used for time data management (TDM) as well as improvement work, capacity calculations, line balancingwork instructions or simply as a basis for decision-making.

Or, put another way, how can you make decisions about what and how to improve, if you don’t have the necessary facts about the processes? – AVIX Method helps you analyse and manage this information in a logical and visual way.

THIS IS AVIX METHOD

  • Time and Motion Study (AVIX times, MTM, Stopwatch and other time study templates)
  • Improved productivity of individual workstations
  • Optimization of the layout and method used for individual workstations
  • Time Data Management (TDM) manage and organize your time base
  • Optimization of product design for assembly
  • Measurement of productivity for various products and variants in the production process
  • Presentation of the current situation and simulation of future situation
  • Print customized work instructions (std. work)
  • Time simulation of improvement proposals
  • Visual tool for Continuous Improvement work (CI)

Video recording

The use of video technology create commitment among the employees, without disturbing the assembly/processes. Video has many advantages such as support for fast and accurate method analysis and provides a visual way of communicating improvements and results.

Simple communication

The combination of detailed and aggregated times, colors and video makes AVIX Method a flexible tool for presentations. It has never been easier to explain a complex assembly process or make a visual drill-down how different process steps affect the total assembly time.

Find the potential

AVIX Method can distinguish which elements of the assembly process that consume the most resources. This makes it easy to identify the areas with the biggest improvement potential. The time saving is instantly simulated for various improvement proposals and provide increased decision support for investments.

Frequently
asked
questions

What industries can benefit from AVIX Method?

Any manufacturing/process industry that either assembles products or has a manual process with a need for time studies, standardization, VA/NVA analysis, or just a simple process mapping. The process can vary from machine handling (man-machine), manual assembly operations, packaging operations, service/maintenance operations, logistics handling, etc.

How does AVIX Method differ from traditional time study methods?

Foremost, AVIX is digital, meaning you record a video of the process to be analyzed and then work in a software environment doing time studies, VA/NVA analysis, etc. The purpose is to have clear documentation of the process to understand what the time drivers are. Compared to a classic time study you only get a process step name and a time, E.g. “Assemble valve, 35 seconds”. But that really doesn’t say anything about the process itself, what is actually going on? Was it 35 seconds of world-class manufacturing or is there room for improvement?

In the sense of digital, it also means that once the data is created it can easily be refined or used for other purposes within the AVIX suite. For example, the time study of single process steps is used to create the process sequence in an AVIX Resource Balance Yamazumi chart.

Having all the data in one single source of information also means updating and managing the data becomes easier. Whenever the process on the shop floor changes, you don’t have to make a completely new time study, you just record a short video of the process step that has changed and you can easily update that specific process step in AVIX. With the data linked to other parts of the AVIX suite, it also means that changing the time study of a process step will instantly change the time in the Yamazumi chart and in the data used for work instructions. In other words, a single source of information to manage and update process-related data.

Is AVIX Method compatible with other time measurement standards like MTM or MODAPTS?

Yes, AVIX can be customized using our “Custom Time System” feature, meaning that existing time systems (PMTS) can be added to AVIX. The same applies if you have your own industry- or company-specific time system developed in-house.

Can AVIX Method be customized to fit specific organizational needs?

Yes, AVIX Method is built and maintained by our in-house development team, allowing us to adapt the software to specific customer needs. The standard version of AVIX Method is optimized for quick implementation and broad usability, but we also offer customization options. While the core functionality remains the same for all users, additional features can be developed and deployed to support unique workflows or requirements.
